Meet Laasya! Laasya is currently a freshman at University of Texas at Austin pursuing a Biochemistry major and sociology minor under the pre-medical track. She loves mentoring students and exploring new things. Laasya has a passion for public speaking, classical dancing, and child poverty activism. Her favorite subjects in school are genetics and differential calculus. In the future, she hopes to become an anesthesiologist to help improve access to medicine in underprivileged countries. A message that she has for tomorrow’s leaders is: “Never be afraid to explore and learn. Remember, there is no success without failure.”

Meet Vinita! Vinita is 18 years old and a freshman at Oregon State University where she is pursuing biological data sciences under the premedical track. She loves reading, graphic design, animation, public speaking, and the sciences. Her favorite subject in school is biology. In the future, she hopes to become an oncologist. One of her favorite quotes is, “Convention is the enemy of progress.”

Meet Shirley! Shirley is a freshman at Oregon State University who is passionate about STEM outreach. Some of her hobbies include: writing, reading, playing piano, and media analysis. Her favorite subjects are literature and physics. In the future, she hopes to become an electrical engineer. She believes in growth mindset philosophy and in having a hard working attitude. Her advice for students is to be as open-minded as possible.

Meet Toni! Toni is 19 and a freshman at Grinnell College. She loves being creative and meeting and connecting with others. She enjoys playing tennis and piano, creating art, and spending time with friends. Toni’s favorite subjects at school are art, biology, theater, and law. She loves getting involved in her community in any way possible and aims to help others. A quote that inspires her is: “read the world, not just the word.”
